China celebrates Singles Day on November 11, which can be considered the region’s equivalent of the American Black Friday sales. Retailers take this opportunity to offer enormous discounts on their products so as to move more units. A new report is now mentioning that Xiaomi’s often rumored fitness band, the Mi Band 1S could be announced and released on that day.
It is being said that the new fitness tracker from the company will carry a price tag of 99 CNY or Rs 1,025, while the Mi Band currently sells for Rs 999 in the country. Recently at the Diwali sale hosted by Mi.com had the Mi Band being sold for Rs 799.
In theory, the Mi Band 1S shouldn’t be a lot different from the first generation model. This is crucial as it would allow existing Mi Band owners to swap and replace bands from the first gen models. The Mi Band 1S is also said to be packing a heart-rate sensor underneath, allowing you to track your health vitals.
More information is awaited at this point and luckily for us, the wait could end next Wednesday. Given the relative spike in pricing, expect the new model to be slightly expensive when it reaches Indian shores.
The original Mi Band sold out pretty quickly in India given the ultra cheap price tag. The wearable was praised for its ultra long battery life and seamless pairing with the help of dedicated Android and iOS apps.
